The remains of Morris Meshulam were identified on June 4th. CPL Meshulam served in the 82nd Anti-Aircraft Battalion in the 2nd Infantry Regiment from July of 1950 to his death in January of 1951. The 82nd and a couple other units were used to defend U.S. forces during a massive assault by the Chinese around Thanksgiving (November 1950). It is believed that CPL Meshulam survived the assault, but he later died as a POW in January of 1951 either from severe malnutrition or injuries that he received during the battle.
CPL Meshulam is from Indianapolis, IN, and the family is requesting that he be buried in his family cemetery at Etz Chaim Synagogue. The date and time of the burial is unknown.
The Jewish War Veterans of the USA are looking to speak to anyone who was in the 82nd Anti-Aircraft Battalion or in the 2nd Infantry Regiment from July of 1950 to January of 1951. If they knew CPL Meshulam, that would be a plus, but is not necessary.
If you have information, please contact the Jewish War Veterans of the USA.
